I Walk Away
As I walk down these steps so grey
And leave this world of rose and dayI wonder, how far must I go?And pray I do not lose my way. Some secrets only darkness showsAs seeds must sink before they growSo cold, so cold, and so alone -What sleeps below I do not know. One step, one more, piled on like stones:The weight of walls and castle thrones,But words not mine keep bane at bayAnd hold together flesh and bone. As I walk down these steps so greyAway from rose, away from dayI pray that I’ll return this way.I walk away, I walk away --B.L.B.
