Holy Indifference

By Annelise St. Clair

Seasons of waiting—

Ignatius gives it words:

Holy Indifference

either outcome, I have peace

because God is King.

His will and living in His love

matter most.

Perhaps not synonyms

but stepping stones,

rungs on Jacob’s ladder

pulling me upward

and onward on

my climb with God.

All my earthly longings

are all longings for You,

Sovereign God,

Loving Father—

my hand held by yours

along the way.

Holy contentment;

holy indifference—

sweet surrender;

Thy will be done.
